One of Mel's hobbies is arranging flowers. In 2012 she took a Distance Learning course from the Floral Design Institute in Portland, Oregon. For thirteen weeks our house was filled with flower designs she did for this course. She has also taken classes at the school in Portland and done arrangements for some benefit gala auctions. She is most proud of the arrangements, bouquets, corsages and boutonnières she did for our son's wedding in 2010. She led a small group of ladies who created the flower arrangements for St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Tacoma, WA and looks to be getting involved in a flower guild at St. Philis in Frisco, TX where we now live.
