Canyonlands and a Float Trip
on the Colorado
Canyonlands is unusual in
that there are separate areas of the park with separate entrances. It is another
one that is worth seeing but not one you would likely return.

That was enough for this day,
but the following day would be a different view from a boat floating down the
Colorado. You really do see things from a different perspective from a boat.

The next spot pointed out by
our guide was a cliff that was used in the movie Thelma and Louise. This was the
place where the Thunderbird flew off the cliff. The producers had to drain all
the fluids out of the car and launched it over the cliff with a sort of
catapult. The director was not happy with the first take so they did a second
car. They had to then remove them from the river. My memory of Thunderbirds of
that era is that it was no great loss.
